One of our proudest offerings at Kingsway is our continuum of care. But what is it? How does it impact our residents and their quality of life? And what does it mean for family members and loved ones of Kingsway residents?
A continuum of care is a series of living options with varying levels of support within a senior living community. Kingsway Community offers five levels of care on our Schenectady campus. The goal of our staff and administrators is to ensure that each resident receives the level of care they need without leaving the familiar comforts of their home at Kingsway, even if their needs change over time.
Levels of Care
At each level of care, our staff bring a high degree of professionalism and compassion. We aim to meet each resident’s needs, which often means personalizing the care and assistance we provide even within the care service. Regardless of what level of care you require when you join Kingsway’s community, it is unlikely that you will need to move to a different senior living community if or when you need more assistance or your health condition changes.
Independent Living
Our Independent Living is perfect for seniors who are still capable of living on their own, but just want to downsize or be part of a senior living community. Our apartment-style residences have the option to include dining, housekeeping, and transportation services if desired. Campus amenities and our Resident Engagement Programs combine to create a social and welcoming environment that new residents can easily settle into.
Assisted Living
We approach Assisted Living as just that: living with some assistance where and when a resident needs it. Our staff emphasize maintaining a resident’s level of independence, their privacy, and their autonomy. Our furnished rooms and apartments cater to a resident’s preferences while keeping in mind the things they need assistance with, such as medication management or personal care. Restaurant-style dining and daily housekeeping are included at Kingsway Manor, our Assisted Living residence. Should a resident find they need added assistance in their day-to-day, but not enough to merit a move to one of our specialized residences, we offer enhanced levels of assisted living care.
Memory Care
Our Memory Care service provides a secure environment for residents with mid-stage cognitive impairment and memory loss, with a priority placed on quality of life and resident well-being. Memory Care staff are specially trained to work with residents with memory loss, and a high staff-to-resident ratio ensures that residents receive the care they need. The Kingsway Manor Memory Care Center includes private rooms and a private courtyard and dining room so that residents can safely enjoy the community of Kingsway.
Skilled Nursing
Skilled Nursing care at Kingsway guarantees exceptional personalized care 24 hours a day. Physicians, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Dieticians, and social work and rehabilitation specialists are all members of our staff, providing the highest level of professional care to each resident. We offer many on-site medical services, but for any off-site medical needs we also provide chaperoned transportation.
Rehabilitation
Also housed in the Kingsway Arms Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, our Rehabilitation care serves as an intermediate step between hospital and home. Our rehabilitation therapy staff provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies to improve and regain mobility, balance, and the range of motion needed for daily life. Our goal is to bring each resident back to their highest degree of independence, whether that means returning to their own home or returning to their apartment on Kingsway’s campus.
Home Care
If you or your loved one needs some assistance with errands, personal care, or medical care while remaining in your own home in the Capital Region, our Home Care staff are ready to assist you. Much like our on-campus continuum of care, our Home Care has many levels, from companionship to nursing services, and can be personalized to fit your needs.
